Ibex 35

« Back to Glossary Index

The main stock market index of reference in the Spanish stock market, made up of the 35 most liquid securities that trade on the four Spanish stock exchanges: Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, and Valencia. It is a market capitalization-weighted index, meaning that not all the companies that make it up have the same weight. It is renewed every six months, and its technical advisory committee studies possible changes in its composition. The Ibex market hours are from 09:00 to 17:30 hours, with two auctions, an opening auction (08:30-09:00), which sets the opening price, and a closing auction (17:30-17:35), which sets the final price of the session.
